Cosmic photo prompt.

Apologies for the slight tardiness of this week’s prompt, I keep forgetting I’m sole provider of inspiration on The Cosmic Photo Challenge, but now I’m here I’ll give you this nice easy one for your theme; Spring has sprung.

I know the weather hasn’t exactly been Spring-like recently, at least not around here, but I’m going to gamble on capturing something indicative of the season, nonetheless.

So why not hunt down some shoots of new growth and join me to watch them bloom on Monday’s post, it’s so easy to do…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Another week dawns and a new edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge is upon us, this Monday brought to you by the prompt; Liquids.

I set the theme with no clear idea in mind, just a plan to try out the combination of the high resolution camera on my new phone and my new, Bluetooth-enabled tripod.

As it was a nice sunny day for a change, Audrey and I went walkabout yesterday afternoon, in search of rivers to photograph after the recent deluge the UK has been experiencing over the last couple of weeks.

But as soon as we started walking the clouds appeared and down came the rain again. So we dodged the showers and moved from place to place, capturing the reflective and kinetic properties of water in the wild.

This rushing water on the corner of a stream…

…is transformed into an ethereal mist with a long exposure.

The river Taw in Rock Park was flowing rapidly out to the estuary, in one of the irregular spells of sunshine and Audrey did some moody emo posing for me at the edge of a suitably photogenic puddle.

Meanwhile, back at home, I found some air bubbles in a bottle of wine and I set the tripod up in the sink to take some close-up drop shots, so to speak.

So, what caught your eye this weekend?

Come on, show us what you have up your sleeve, it’s easy when you know how…

Cosmic Photo prompt.

For this week’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, I’d like you to provide some images which illustrate the prompt; Liquids.

Simple, but with plenty of opportunity to be creative, I look forward to seeing what you come up with for Monday’s post.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Monday comes speeding back round again, bringing with it another edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is in turn brought to you by the prompt; Set in stone.

I have chosen some examples of the stonemason’s art in Barnstaple, taken on a stroll around town with Audrey yesterday.

Some of the old buildings here have featured on the challenge before, but these are all new photos, I hope you like them.

Cosmic Photo prompt.

Good morning/afternoon/evening to you, wherever you may be and welcome to another Friday prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Today I am asking you to apply your ingenious (or should that be igneous?) creativity to the theme; Set in stone.

Any type of stony subject matter is acceptable, be it geological, monumental, or architectural, so get snapping and find something to rock our world for Monday’s post.

And how do you enter your photos? Well, it’s *ahem* sedimentary, my dear challengers…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Time once again to dive into the fast flowing creative waters of The Cosmic Photo Challenge and see what wonders we can discover beneath that shimmering surface.

This week I asked you to theme your post around the prompt; The dark and the light, however you choose to interpret that concept.

I went with the idea of composite duality, (a fancy term I just this moment invented) using careful editing to show negative cutaways of colour photos.

I was very pleased how these came out, so I continued mucking about until I stumbled on the weird optical illusion below.

Both of these side-by-side photos of a slate wall are exactly the same image, the only difference is the colour inversion. There has been no change in size, shape or angle in any way, yet somehow…

The final flash of inspiration came from the same door that has already featured in several challenge posts, reconstructed from two differently illuminated shots; one lit from inside the kitchen and one with the kitchen dark and the light on in the living room.

Now it’s time for you to light up our lives with your contributions.

Cosmic Photo prompt.

Your prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge this week could take you in any number of directions, as long as your contributions somehow invoke; The dark and the light.

Shadows, contrasting colours, black and white, day and night, umm…good and evil..? Well, you get the idea and I know y’all are creative enough to come up with your very own spin on the theme.

Because that’s what it’s all about; how you interpret the theme each week is entirely up to you. It’s great to see different perspectives on the prompts and I am grateful to everyone who has participated in the Cosmic Photo Challenge over the years, your talent and vision is a constant inspiration and influence in making imaginative imagery.
