The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For this week’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, we’re all doing our own thing, because the prompt was; Freestyle.

I didn’t capture anything new at the weekend, mostly because of the horrible weather yesterday, so I decided to combine elements of 12 previous shots to create an artwork of composite imagery. See if you can spot them all.

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Good morning, happy Monday everyone.

I requested that this week’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge should feature images themed around the prompt; Solid, liquid or gas.

I vaguely presumed some of you in chillier climes might be able to combine ice, water and steam/clouds for your submissions, but I didn’t really have a plan until yesterday morning, when I started mucking about with slo-mo video.

I discovered that it’s possible to get some very effective results with just a tripod, some ice cubes and various beverages (coffee turned out to be the best) positioned carefully over the sink.

You’ll have to take my word for it that there’s steam rising from the coffee mug, but I compensated for its invisibility by providing three states of picture instead; still, gif and video.

Now it’s time for you to show us what’s making a splash in your world this week…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Good morning to you and welcome to a 2020 greatest hits edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, wherein y’all pick your personal favourite shots of the year for a prompt we’re calling; Cream of the crop.

I decided to go with a selection of images which sum up life here in one small corner of Devon, during this surreal and uniquely challenging year.

From the time I spent off work, sitting in the garden for weeks on end, finding new and creative ways to entertain myself; to solitary walks along woodland paths and riverbanks, capturing an unusually quiet and empty version of the world; to bizarre lockdown art projects and video experiments, 2020 was a year which will be hard to forget.

It’s been an absolute pleasure to have your collective company over the last twelve months, however difficult it may have seemed, we made it through.

Now it’s time for you to show off your proudest photographic moments, come on, don’t be shy…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For this week’s edition of the photographic imaginarium which is The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I asked you to provide us with some pictures that satisfied the simple prompt; Inversions.

Upside down, inside out, back to front and the wrong way round, it’s amazing how much of a difference it can make to an image with just one or two elements reversed.

Take faces, for example, how would it look if you turned just the eyes and mouth upside down..?

…well, no, fair enough, maybe not that.

How about inverting the colour of a photo, then overlaying it with the original, then painstakingly erasing parts of one of them to make surreal juxtapositions?

Yeah, ok, let’s try that instead.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Welcome to yet another Monday, made more bearable by the arrival of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, with an ephemeral theme set by my transatlantic counterpart, K’lee; Beautiful spirits of the natural world.

Well, as I pointed out on Friday, the weather didn’t seem very conducive to nature photography at the weekend, so I once again resorted to manufacturing a composite image to fit the bill.

Using several existing pictures, (carefully blended and painstakingly removed from their original backgrounds with fingertip erasing) I constructed this somewhat surreal little menagerie on Instow beach, which previously contained no animals or birds whatsoever.

Ever the literal thinker, I have also given them a slightly ethereal translucency, to fit with the “spirit” element of the prompt.

K’lee is HERE with his spirited contribution.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

It’s Monday and once again it’s time to get creative with your imagery for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Today is K’lee’s challenge and he chose the theme of the elements; Earth, Air, Fire and Water.

I decided to go fully interpretive and enlisted Audrey to assist me in a spot of light painting, as it was popular when we had a go at Christmas.
