Another new musical collaboration: Carbonates On Mars.

I have been Facebook friends with Gareth J Farmer, aka Carbonates On Mars for years, but it’s only since I started experimenting with more peaceful, ambient music that it occurred to me we should work together.

Gareth is a veteran at making the kind of minimal, delicate and, above all quiet music I rarely have the patience for. So collaborating with him on these new pieces has been an interesting exercise in musical restraint and subtlety for me.

First here’s my remix of Carbonates On Mars’ Space Fields

…followed by a second mix we called Entering Mechanical Worlds

Our third cooperative composition is this spacey soundscape, Graviton Waves

And finally, one of mine, At The Event Horizon

New ongoing musical project: dalecooper57 – In others’ words.

For my latest audio visual project, I have been taking words out of other people’s mouths and using them as integral components of my compositions, even if they’re not entirely intelligible.

I began with vocal samples of notable cult figures that I isolated from YouTube videos; Philip K Dick, David Lynch, Timothy Leary and Alan Ginsberg, which I then treated with effects and built the music round them.

Here’s Philip K Dick talking about the concept of living in “The Matrix”, long before Neo met Agent Smith in the movie.

Next up, David Lynch explaining Transcendental Meditation via the humble donut.

And now a potted history of LSD, with ’60s counterculture heroes, Leary and Ginsberg

Once I got the hang of this new ouvre, I requested volunteers from the many writers and poets on my social media feeds, hoping they could record some original material to further inspire me.

The first to offer his services was Al Jagiello from Chicago, who sent me some clips from his podcast, “Population”, which I turned into this jolly little number; Katz & Dogz.

There will be more where that came from, I can assure you.

New album launch.

Good evening to you, I hope you’re having a good start to the weekend, even if it isn’t the extended one we’re enjoying here in the UK for the queen’s platinum jubilee.

That isn’t the only thing worth celebrating today, however, because he time has finally come for me to air a new collection of original music, in the form of my new album, Process of Elimination.

Listen for free or purchase one or more of the album’s 15 lovingly crafted tracks via the Bandcamp player below.

As if that wasn’t enough, I’ve already created videos for a few of the new tunes and here are three of my favourites.

New Year, new mix.

Hello there, happy new year to you all, here’s a new musical treat for you, to start 2022 off on a funky note. It’s a little disco number I call Daft Kerplunk, in tribute to a certain defunct French electro duo by whom it is inspired.

Mind your eyeballs, it’s about to get…complicated.

Wednesday Weirdness: New Bandcamp releases.

Today I have some new and original musical compositions to share with you, in the form of an album and a remix EP. First up are these lively and occasionally noisy tunes; featuring genre-mangling experiments with rock riffs, electro-tinged melodies and techno rhythms, each one available individually or complied into the Xamidimura album (which also includes a bonus remix of an earlier, ’80s-inspired track)… And that is followed by a three track remix project called Interkonnekt, which began when I couldn’t find quite the right sound for the final layer of a mix I was making. Eventually, I used one of the components from a completely different mix and the unexpected success of the arbitrary juxtaposition got me thinking; what if I mixed and matched the two main components of several mixes, what would that sound like..? Well, no need for you to wonder, because it sounds like this. These fabulous new releases can be listened to for free via the embedded Bandcamp players in this post. You can play the track displayed and if you click on the title you can view the track list, which can be purchased individually or in whatever combination tickles your auditory fancy.

New music: Pre-release video exclusive.

Time for another burst of extended sonic experimentation, once again accompanied by an eye-wateringly psychedelic video.

The entire visual extravaganza was made using nothing more than a one minute twelve second clip of the spider you see at the start, which I then spent a few hours layering with more and more effects until I arrived at the retina-worrying result below.

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present the world premiere of Temporal Drift

Wednesday Weirdness: New EP release.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been working on a new EP of original material and I am giving you, my lovely readers, the first chance to experience it in all its glorious, trance-like complexity.

As usual, each track comes with its own bespoke artwork, along with the main cover art and each track is also available to purchase individually.

But you can listen to the entire EP via the embedded player below, should you wish to try before you buy.

Lastly, I’d like to once again express my gratitude to those of you who have already supported my adventures in musical experimentation, it’s always good to know someone appreciates the work I put in to these projects.

So, now it’s time to sit back, turn up the volume and join our future robotic overlords for a bit of a boogie.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present the A.I. EP, I hope you enjoy it…

Midweek musical multimedia masterpiece.

After dabbling in drum and bass for the first time the other day and being pretty impressed with the results, I spent a good chunk of the weekend creating an extended and quite complex mix of a tune I’d begun earlier last week.

The original track was a lot shorter, but by the time I’d composed a completely new one to combine it with, the final edit clocked in at just over 18 minutes, making it more of a 12″ megamix.

Anyway, I hope you like the outcome of my latest musical adventure, which you can listen to via the embedded Bandcamp player. You can also watch the slightly shortened HD video HERE on my Instagram page, or at the lower resolution* YouTube link below.

*YouTube is rather irritatingly refusing to upload high quality video at the moment, so apologies for that.

**edit: You should now be able to view the above video in glorious 720p definition, since YouTube seem to have got their collective shit together.

Friday night hot mix.

And now something for your Friday night listening pleasure; another extended burst of frenetic electronic sonic experimentation from my expanding Bandcamp catalogue.

This tune was carefully constructed from two completely separate component tracks, each made using my sampler/sequencer app, which I then mixed together on my digital DJ decks to create the multi-layered EDM megamix which is Fraktur.
