Psychedelic Sunday.

Another weekend of digital fiddling and multimedia mucking about has ended up with another new piece of genre-defying electronic music and an accompanying video which gives new meaning to the word “trippy”.

The video was made using only a single photo, which I was using to make some artwork for the track’s Bandcamp release. I got a bit carried away adding more and more extra layers of effects and, although the resulting visuals weren’t created by synching them with the music, they are still pretty awesome in their psychedelic trippiness.

Midweek mix.

For my latest experiment in sound, I have been playing with complex rhythms and vocal samples.

The idea that it is hard to spot rhythmic themes from their component parts until they are all brought together, was the basis for my weekend’s sonic alchemy, which goes some way to explain the initially puzzling intro to this, a track I’m calling Kon-Fusion.

Give it a minute to get going, then see what you think…

Remix video frenzy.

The devil will find work for idle hands and he apparently has all the best tunes, so maybe I should be thanking that particular mythical personification of the evil that men do, for my latest burst of creativity.

Because, since I got furloughed from work again, I’ve had plenty of time to dabble with my audio visual home production studio (well, ok, my phone) and I have recently managed to achieve some pretty impressive results.

For a start, I made this epic reworking of Kate Bush‘s Hounds Of Love

…along with a truly awesome mashup mix of Madonna‘s Ray Of Light and Kraftwerk‘s Numbers/Computer World, which unfriendly YouTube algorithms decided to block, so you can only see the full extravaganza via Instagram (apologies for the poorly-embedded player, you may have to click the link) which you can access below.

How about a spot of Vangelis, with a track from his Blade Runner soundtrack; this is Dimitri’s Bar, remixed with some additional electro rhythms from C Gonzalez

…or if that doesn’t float your space craft, here’s an extended romp through a Levellers song called 15 Years

But the things I’m always most pleased with are the ones which are solely my own work, like the techno sci-fi epic in my previous post and this completely original, pumping house music jam, entitled Lockdown Funk.

Turn on, tune in, freak out.

I thought it was time to update my audio visual showcase, so I have added a plethora of YouTube videos to my Sound and Vision page, compiling all the best mixes and sonic experiments from the last few years.

I have also added a link to the folder containing these and dozens of other mp3 files, should you wish to download any of my peculiar ouevre, completely free of charge.

Enjoy the vibes.

#1linerWeds: Wednesday Weirdness.

For this, One Liner Wednesday‘s journey into Weirdsville, we’re following a route which takes us through both music and art.

As well as making a deliciously gloopy video for my latest musical composition, I have been adding the Melodic Randomiser to my Instagram feed, where I have produced bespoke artwork for each day’s post and here are some of my favourites, along with a peculiar gif.

#1linerWeds: Wednesday Weirdness.

Welcome to the second week of my quarantine-friendly Wednesday Weirdness strand, which is deputising for the alternative dictionary while it’s on coronavirus lockdown in the Library of Contrivance.

Today I have some animation, some music and some homemade art for you, described in my allocated one line, like so:

A friend on Facebook, a fine chap called Tom Tomski, suggested we recreate album covers with stuff we had lying around and I also composed a new musical masterpiece, which I accompanied with a rather spiffing video.

{The first three are mine, then four from Tom and three from Fi J Sanderson. Thanks guys, for letting me share your creative genius)

So, did you get them all?
