Hi there, welcome to Monday and also to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, which this week is all about what happens when you; Drain the colours.
I chose to showcase the *lack of* beautiful colours of some of the flowers in the garden.
But before that…
…I have been posting my challenge photos on Photo Sans Frontieres on Facebook, where I have recently encouraged group members to get involved. Well I am happy to say that this week I can include a fabulous shot of a cast-off dragonfly skin (known as the exuvia) from new member, Clive Wilson.

Now let’s see your monochromatic offerings…

To get involved with the challenge; check out the Cosmic Photo Prompt each Friday, then post a photo (or photos) on your blog the following Monday, with a pingback link to my Monday post.
Tag your posts with #CosPhoChal.
Any and all effects, editing, Photoshop, Instagram, morphing, collages, animation, gifs, or whatever other post production techniques you fancy are permitted, (in fact, they’re actively encouraged!) so get creative and turn your photos into artworks for the Cosmic Photo Challenge.

I like how you selected only the flower itself to make black and white.

I like the reverse selective colouring bit. I like the first photo, it looks “Little Shop of Horror-esque” to me. And the two last ones stand out, it focusses on the flower, funny enough.
I went a different way, I didn’t take all the colours out I just drained them a bit: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2021/07/26/all-washed-out/

I like how sharp the ‘colourless’ parts of your photos are. I tried that effect once, the results were OK, but not spectacular. I’ve been using PowerPoint again:

Thanks, I’ve found you can’t beat a bit of patient fingertip erasing to get that standout effect.

The first shot for me. The monochrome centre of the flower reminds me of various cheesy black and white “horror” movies from the 1950s.
A couple of selective colour treatments from me:
