Cosmic Photo prompt.

K’lee is taking the helm for this week’s prompt on K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, so I’ll let him introduce the theme for Monday’s post;

“GET YOUR MOTORS RUNNING: COOL CARS THAT CAUGHT YOUR EYE

…could be just about anything, you know.

I’ve actually got a few shots, taken from the ole ‘Obzervashunal Archives’ I think will fit the bill for this challenge…

Then again, I might NOT use them… I mean we… you… I have until Monday for the challenge’s unveiling, so maybe I’ll change my mind a few times between now and then, who knows?”

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Time to get wet for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, using my prompt from Friday to direct the flow of inspiration; The look of liquid.

I had no idea what I would do with that, it just popped into my head, but I managed to capture a couple of new shots, along with a few from the archives.

Here’s two of water in the wild, so to speak…

…and a couple of digital water sculptures.

Followed by these two new shots of me splashing about in the kitchen.

It’s my turn to provide inspiration for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge this week, (sorry it’s late, we have an American visitor who I had to pick up from the airport) and I’ve chosen a specific medium for you to work with; The look of liquid.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

This week’s edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge is brought to you by another of K’lee’s open-to-interpretation prompts, which asked us to look for anything that was; Hiding in plain sight: Photo elements you might have missed.

Although this seemed like an interesting concept to begin with, I was soon stumped for ideas because, well, how would you know if you’d missed something?

So I started scrolling through the thousands of images in my Google Photos album, looking for inspiration, hoping something would magically jump out at me.

After half an hour of fruitless searching I was about ready to give up and Photoshop a random duck into a landscape photo, or add Audrey to a crowd scene like a female Where’s Wally impersonator, when an old picture of her wearing my sunglasses scrolled past.

Aha! Mirrored lenses, they’re always handy for unusual reflections.

And I was not disappointed because, if you zoom in you can see, not only me taking the photo, but a shadow of me doing so, cast by the sun on the wall to my left.

Which just goes to show, there’s often more to the picture than meets the eye.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Ok, so I cheated again.

I knew, when I set Friday’s prompt for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, that I was going to see my old friend Duncan and his band on Saturday night, hence; The food of love.

Because, as we all know, that particular nutrient is music, so I thought I’d try to capture the essence of a live show in photographic form.

The band, Duch jo, (an acronym of the members’ names) play a thrilling funk/rock hybrid which sounds like Prince producing a Frank Zappa album with Sly And The Family Stone, with surreal samples and effects blending the songs together making it seem almost like a concept album.

Duncan’s heavy bass lines and rapid fire lyrics, some skillfully syncopated drumming and shredding guitar solos made the non-stop set a truly immersive musical experience.

Despite there only being a small but appreciative audience, they played as if their lives depended on it and those who stayed to the end were rewarded with a unique and musically complex show from three very talented performers.

Audrey even got to try out some of Duncan’s vocal gadgets and I took the opportunity of snapping a very grunge photo of her while she was on stage.

I also took my usual artistic licence with a few shots, including one of a rather sensory overloaded child who seemed fascinated by the band, but for whom the volume was clearly a little much, along with a long exposure with ghostly musicians.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Welcome to yet another Monday, made more bearable by the arrival of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, with an ephemeral theme set by my transatlantic counterpart, K’lee; Beautiful spirits of the natural world.

Well, as I pointed out on Friday, the weather didn’t seem very conducive to nature photography at the weekend, so I once again resorted to manufacturing a composite image to fit the bill.

Using several existing pictures, (carefully blended and painstakingly removed from their original backgrounds with fingertip erasing) I constructed this somewhat surreal little menagerie on Instow beach, which previously contained no animals or birds whatsoever.

Ever the literal thinker, I have also given them a slightly ethereal translucency, to fit with the “spirit” element of the prompt.

K’lee is HERE with his spirited contribution.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

I have a confession to make.

I set the prompt for this week’s edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, because I had a specific event in mind when I picked; Street photography.

Saturday was Green Man day in Barnstaple.

Or rather, it was the Pilton Green Man Festival. Set in the old town’s sloping high street and around the Rotary Gardens, the all day event comprises craft stalls, live music, Morris dancing, fairground attractions, food and drink, a pagan procession and much more. It’s always a busy day and this year’s festival was no exception.

Audrey and I wandered through the crowds, soaked up some of the cheerful community atmosphere and I took some photos; including some of the slightly fearsome Morris men and women (see if you can make out exactly who is who in the final shot, I certainly can’t).

K’lee is out on the streets HERE, but now it’s time to show us what you found on your travels.
