K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

K’lee chose the theme for this week’s K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, picking another prompt which could be seen as topical for the upcoming festive season; Sacred spaces.

Now I’m not the least bit spiritual or religious, but I do like a nice church and graveyard when it comes to atmospheric photographic subjects. So, since the weather was apocalyptically dreadful at the weekend, I raided the archives to find some suitable material for today’s post.

Here are pictures from three churches, a couple of graveyards, the tower at Glastonbury tor, an ancient monument and a stone circle, along with an imaginary stained glass window I created.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

It’s time to start getting in the festive spirit on today’s edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, because I set the theme of Christmas lights on Friday.

I braved the crowds of seasonal shoppers with Audrey on Saturday, so we went for a wander around town and across the square, where I took advantage of shiny paving provided by the recent rain to add a little something to my shots of the sparkling trees.

I also had a little muck about with one of them, because I can’t help it.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For this week’s K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge I thought I’d employ the rather lazy “look around the house and garden” technique to find inspiration for K’lee’s prompt; Unusual tones or textures and here’s what I found.

Some nice knots in the pine fence panels; an seasonally variegated clematis leaf; the intricate lacy patterns on a melon rind and the distinctly underwater feel of the light shining through our ever-reliable rippled glass kitchen door (making its third appearance on the challenge) onto the textured plaster of the ceiling.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For this week’s optical odyssey on K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge I chose a theme which gives you almost unlimited scope for subjects, just as long as they are all taken; From an unusual angle.

I found inspiration in the kitchen and at the pub; where I was preparing for a belated ex-pat Thanksgiving dinner (our various schedules finally overlapped yesterday) and playing pool with Audrey, respectively.

A cheese grater, a colander and a tin can all made for interestingly contoured reflective surfaces, and a glass block wall in the pub and Audrey’s evil stare across the pool table add a bit of variety.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For today’s edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge I’ve decided to go the simple route for a change and just post straight photos to illustrate K’lee’s theme of; The look and feel of gratitude.

The one thing I’m constantly grateful for is my family, so any excuse to feature them on the blog is very welcome indeed.

We have had a difficult few weeks; with Rhonda and I both looking for new jobs, the tenuous juggling of our finances and battling the intractable Home Office, life sometimes seems as if it’s determined to break us down. But if there’s one thing I can rely on, it’s the way Audrey is always happy with the smallest of treats and surprises.

Which is why it was so nice to see the look of glee on her face when she finally got to be a penguin at the weekend.

Yes, you read that right, Audrey finally realised her dream of being a penguin in the snow. Well, maybe not exactly, but I think the photos below will explain.

On Saturday we missed Barnstaple Christmas lights being turned on, (usually by some z-list celebrity pushing a button, accompanied by a bit of live music on the town square) but yesterday we did wander around the small fair along the riverfront, where Audrey tried her luck on the hook-a-duck stall and won some sort of squishy ball thing which she was inordinately pleased with.

However, the thing that really made her day was the giant inflatable snow globe that was set up to provide Christmassy photo opportunities, particularly as she happened to be wearing her fluffy penguin hoodie at the time.
