Welcome to The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I hope any Halloween celebrations you had went well over the weekend. As the UK heads back into lockdown the eldritch atmosphere continues just a little longer, to encompass the theme of; Spooky.
There was no trick or treating for Audrey to partake of this year, but it didn’t stop her doing some strange makeup experiments, which I (un)naturally documented…

…all of which paranormal portraiture inspired me to capture some strange selfies of my own.

What did you find to creep us out on this cold November day..?

To get involved with the challenge; check out the Cosmic Photo Prompt each Friday, then post a photo (or photos) on your blog the following Monday, with a pingback link to my Monday post.
Tag your posts with #CosPhoChal.
Any and all effects, editing, Photoshop, Instagram, morphing, collages, animation, gifs, or whatever other post production techniques you fancy are permitted, (in fact, they’re actively encouraged!) so get creative and turn your photos into artworks for the Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Ooh, look at me being early with the prompt for a change.
I know Monday’s post on The Cosmic Photo Challenge will be a day late for Halloween, but I’m going to stick with the theme anyway and ask for your contributions to be; Spooky.
So capture some atmospheric images to give us all the creeps to start the week and have a great weekend whatever you’re up to.

Today’s word from the alternative dictionary is a redefined sporting term;
“Hindsight” – Targeting device used in deer hunting.

On Friday for The Cosmic Photo Challenge, I asked you to provide your own interpretation of my inspiration; Vertical.
I have taken a very loose guide from the prompt; capturing images on a short walk yesterday morning which are either of vertical things, from vertical things, or at a vertical angle, plus a bit of creative mucking about.
Walls, walking, fences, bridges, hedges and selfies, it’s amazing what you can squeeze out of a simple one word theme.

Where did the directions lead you over the weekend?
Come on, I’ve shown you mine, now show me yours…

For The Cosmic Photo Challenge this weekend, I’d like you to capture something which illustrates the prompt; Vertical.
No reason, just the first thing that popped into my head.
So get snap happy for Monday’s big reveal and bring some imaginative images to the party to start the week.

Today’s redefined word in the alternative dictionary is nice and simple;
“Wellbeing” – e.g. The girl from The Ring.

Good grief, is it Monday already?
I’m sure I must have fallen through a wormhole from Friday afternoon.
But at least I have your contributions for The Cosmic Photo Challenge to look forward to, themed this week around; Shadowplay.
With no particular ideas in mind and not having been out anywhere over the last couple of days, I found inspiration for my shadowy offerings at home and in the garden.
First these dramatically lit plants in the living room caught my eye…

…and the shadows of forsythia stems which seem to be hanging from the Virginia creeper vine.

But it was when I noticed the possibilities of shadows cast by my two metal fish ornaments that I got really inspired. One hastily-wedged bamboo pole on top of the shed later and I captured these cheery portraits.

After which I created a little aquarium scene…

…and then got rather carried away and made this.

And finally, I have the perfect opportunity to play us out with this classic clip of Joy Division
What did you do in the shadows at the weekend, come on, it’s show and tell time…

Well the days are certainly starting shorten now, so this week’s prompt for The Cosmic Photo Challenge returns to a theme we’ve had before and asks you to capture; Shadowplay.
Make of that what you will and meet back here in time for Monday’s show and tell.
Have a great weekend whatever you’re doing, I look forward to seeing what inspired images you have for us to start our week.

Today’s redefined and slightly misspelled word is Shakespearian in origin and it provides us with a twofer;
“Falstaff” – 1) A walking stick.
2) Stunt performers.
