Midweek musical madness.

Time for more sonic experimentation to brighten up your hump day.

Firstly, here’s a brand new slab of deep, dark techno, called Fathom

…followed by this free download of a truly preposterous concoction; two previously separate compositions spliced together to make up a veritable cornucopia of weird noises and conspicuous bleepery, Datastream.

New EP release.

And here it is, my latest original release on Bandcamp; three huge tunes featuring a mixture of riffing guitars, hard techno and trance-like rhythms, all compiled into an EP called Nova.

Give it a listen for free, buy an individual track or get all three at a discountn price via the player link below.

I’m rather proud of this collection, into which I put quite a lot of time and creative energy, so I hope you find something to entertain you.

Play it loud. ;~}

Saturday remix: Free download.

Hello there, I’ve been having an afternoon of musical creativity and technical shenanigans, resulting in not one, not two, not even three, but four new tracks being added to my page on Bandcamp.

Three of them are completely new and original compositions by yours truly, (about which, more to follow) but for starters I’d like to present you with a gift, free, gratis and without charge, (ok, that’s primarily for copyright reasons, but still…) in the form of my remix of a goth classic; The Cure‘s Carnage Visors.

Carnage Visors was originally conceived as the soundtrack to a film which never saw the light of day, (although you can watch a short clip of it HERE) and was included on some versions of the band’s 1981 album, Faith.

I have mucked about with it before, making an extremely eclectic mashup mix involving several songs by wildly differing artists, which was only partially successful if I’m honest. But this time I spent a considerable amount of time composing an extended piece of original music with which to remix Laughing Bob and friends’ hypnotically gloomy epic.

So here is my enhanced version, which you may download for free or listen to via the embedded player below, entitled rather unimaginatively, Carnage Re-Visor.

Stay tuned for more music news coming soon, don’t touch that dial…

Midweek mix.

For my latest experiment in sound, I have been playing with complex rhythms and vocal samples.

The idea that it is hard to spot rhythmic themes from their component parts until they are all brought together, was the basis for my weekend’s sonic alchemy, which goes some way to explain the initially puzzling intro to this, a track I’m calling Kon-Fusion.

Give it a minute to get going, then see what you think…

Friday night hot mix.

And now something for your Friday night listening pleasure; another extended burst of frenetic electronic sonic experimentation from my expanding Bandcamp catalogue.

This tune was carefully constructed from two completely separate component tracks, each made using my sampler/sequencer app, which I then mixed together on my digital DJ decks to create the multi-layered EDM megamix which is Fraktur.

Midweek remix.

I was idly fiddling with my musical creation gizmos at the weekend and ended up making a new and extended remix of my original tune, Cuban Feelz.

This version is more what I was aiming for the first time round, with more depth, more layers and an all-round bigger sound, I hope you like it.

Sunday mix.

Another techno megamix, with which to enliven your Sunday afternoon, created over two days of meticulous sequencing and looping last weekend.

Enjoy the rhythmic wonders of Holodaze.

The return of Techno Tuesday.

Another Bandcamp release for your listening pleasure; this one is a bit of an epic masterpiece, even if I do say so myself, (which, of course, I do) as it should be, given that I spent all weekend making it.

So crank up your speakers and enjoy the complex rhythms and sweeping soundscapes of Transposition.

Go on, have a boogie, you know you want to…

The Cosmic Photo Challenge.

For this week’s edition of The Cosmic Photo Challenge, we’re all doing our own thing, because the prompt was; Freestyle.

I didn’t capture anything new at the weekend, mostly because of the horrible weather yesterday, so I decided to combine elements of 12 previous shots to create an artwork of composite imagery. See if you can spot them all.

Behold my radical redesign of Exeter cathedral.

Now it’s time for you to share your talents with the rest of the class, so, who’s first..?

To get involved with the challenge; check out the Cosmic Photo Prompt each Friday, then post a photo (or photos) on your blog the following Monday, with a pingback link to my Monday post.
