Today’s alternative definition came to me when I was having a discussion with Rhonda about loonies predicting the end of the world (again) using astrology;
“Retrograde” – Motor oil specially formulated for old vehicles.

Still on the Internet, Still a Nobody

If you saw yesterday’s photo challenge post, you’ll know I went to see my friend Duncan and his latest band, Duch Jo at the weekend.
Well, despite Duncan’s insistence that they “don’t want to be famous, we just want to play music”, they do have a Facebook page, where you can meet the band and find out about forthcoming gigs.
And if that isn’t enough for you, I did manage to video one of their songs on Saturday; Bad Brother Animal.
Having obtained permission from Duncan, I uploaded it to YouTube and present it here for your listening pleasure. It’s not the most artistic visual treat, but the sound quality is actually rather good, so play it through some decent speakers and you too can check out their unique blend of funk rock.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Duch Jo…

Ok, so I cheated again.
I knew, when I set Friday’s prompt for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, that I was going to see my old friend Duncan and his band on Saturday night, hence; The food of love.
Because, as we all know, that particular nutrient is music, so I thought I’d try to capture the essence of a live show in photographic form.
The band, Duch jo, (an acronym of the members’ names) play a thrilling funk/rock hybrid which sounds like Prince producing a Frank Zappa album with Sly And The Family Stone, with surreal samples and effects blending the songs together making it seem almost like a concept album.

Duncan’s heavy bass lines and rapid fire lyrics, some skillfully syncopated drumming and shredding guitar solos made the non-stop set a truly immersive musical experience.
Despite there only being a small but appreciative audience, they played as if their lives depended on it and those who stayed to the end were rewarded with a unique and musically complex show from three very talented performers.
Audrey even got to try out some of Duncan’s vocal gadgets and I took the opportunity of snapping a very grunge photo of her while she was on stage.
I also took my usual artistic licence with a few shots, including one of a rather sensory overloaded child who seemed fascinated by the band, but for whom the volume was clearly a little much, along with a long exposure with ghostly musicians.

You can see what type of offering K’lee has for us, HERE
Now it’s time for you to show us your compositions.

Today’s theme for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge is set by me and it could prove to be an interesting theme for you to interpret; The food of love.
So if you think you can encapsulate that abstract concept in a cunningly captured photographic submission, then meet back here on Monday and show us watcha got…

Oh, blimey, I really am late today, sorry.
Sitting chatting in the garden with Rhonda was so pleasant that I completely forgot it was Wednesday.
Here’s a quick entry in the alternative dictionary for you to groan at;
“Esquire” – Male internet escort.
