Ho’s Christmas ho ho ho post…

Every year, some of my most popular posts are the ones for which Ho creates the seasonal artwork.

Ho, my old friend and consummate blog-toonist in residence has provided festive illustrations and Diary of an Internet Nobody Christmas cards for the last few years, but this year he’s outdone himself with a fantastic do it yourself Christmas tree decoration. I’ll pass you over to the artist himself for the all-important instructions.

Ladies and gentlemen, here’s Ho:

” Step One – Print out the image at approximately A4 size. (If you don’t have a printer, visit a library or someone bored in an office). There is a nice colourful version, or a black and white one so you can have fun colouring in the Trump-fairy yourself.

Step Two – With scissors, carefully cut around the outline of the main shape and the Trump-fairy’s head. You may want to ask an adult to help you with this. Do NOT cut the Trump-fairy’s throat, however tempting this may be.

Step Three – Cut along the dotted lines and fold around so that the slits interlock.

Step Four – Fold back the Trump-fairy’s wing sections at the half-way point, to make them nice and flappy.

Step Five – Cut out the Trump-fairy’s hat, cut a slit at the dotted line, and pop it on his head.

Step Six – Impale the Trump-fairy through the arse (or hang) on the top of your Xmas tree. Hey Presto ! Your Xmas Trump-fairy Tree Decoration is finished.

Why not send us photos of your impaled / hung Trump-fairy, we’d love to see them.

{Should you, for some strange reason, not wish to display a Trump-fairy on your Xmas tree, they also make excellent (if brief) candles. You will therefore be carrying on the grand tradition, initiated by a legion of students, of ‘lighting your own Trump’.}

A Ho-made festive product, you’re welcome. Happy Solstice   xx “

**********
Thank you, Ho, for that stroke of creative genius, I look forward to seeing you again soon. I’m sure I join with all my readers in wishing you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.

K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

It’s time once again to fire up your imaginations and get creative for K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, which today revolves around a theme of my choice.

I specifically asked you to use some form of post-production effects for this week’s challenge, because that is what we like here and I’ve noticed that some of you shy away from using all but the most basic adjustments to your original photos.

Plus, I have a guest contributor this week, so I also wanted to be able to crowbar his pictures in.

I’ve gone for some more abstract images, produced using photos of industrial components as the source material.

The next selection are from my old friend and esteemed blog artist-in-residence, Ho, who sent me these colourful and artistic contributions last week.

So, there you have it.

KG left us this.

Lady Lee Manila offers these for your perusal.

And K’lee’s photo is HERE, for your viewing pleasure.
Now, show us the fruits of your creative labours…
*****
To get involved with the challenge, post a photo to your blog on Monday, add a pingback to this post (or to K’lee’s) and don’t forget to tag your post #CosPhoChal.

Alternatively, add a link to your blog in the comments of either mine or K’lee’s post and we’ll come and check out your entry.
Any and all effects, editing, Photoshop, Instagram, morphing, collages or whatever other post production techniques you fancy are permitted, (in fact, they’re actively encouraged!) so get creative and turn your photos into artworks for the Cosmic Photo Challenge.

#atozchallenge: Z is for Zebra…

image

So here we are at the end of my first ever A-Z challenge and I must say, I’ve enjoyed it immensely.

Not only have I been able to indulge my tendency to talk rubbish, every day for a month, I’ve also had a chance to meet some great new bloggers, promote the skills of a talented local face painter and inflict some of my new sonic experiments on you.

Well today, I’m featuring artwork from two of my occasional contributors; Audrey and Ho.

Audrey suggested that I picked “Zebra” for my final post, but I don’t have a lot to say about those, so I asked her to draw me a picture instead;

image

Meanwhile, resident blogtoonist, Ho was commissioned to create an illustration for a little puzzle to finish this alphabetical odyssey.

Having tested this pictorial conundrum on Rhonda and elicited only a blank look, I’m not convinced the Americans among my readership will get it (maybe it’s not a thing over there) but I’m sure someone out there will feel a metaphorical lightbulb pop into existence above their head when they see it.

There is no prize, other than knowing you have similar random thought processes to myself, but that’s an achievement in itself, so;

What is the relevance of this fabulous toon to the A-Z challenge?

image

Answers in the comments please.

Thank you for sticking with me for this month of nonsense and blathering, I’ve just got one more thing for you before normal(ish) service resumes next week; another new tune, and this one is a corker, even if I do say so myself.

#atozchallenge: O is for Oscilab…

image

So, the second half of the A-Z challenge begins today and after my nonsense post on Saturday, I was chatting to my old friend Ho about my idea for today.
The conversation was slightly peculiar, given that we were communicating via text, in language that was inspired by the aforementioned nonsense, resulting in him asking me, for instance, whether my post was “smerdling like a snonk scollog” and congratulating me on it being “froodacious”.

But enough of that nonsense, let’s get to O.

Oscilab is the synthesizer/sequencer/drum machine app that I use to create the one-off, improvised soundscapes that I have recently been uploading to my lovely new Bandcamp page (see link below) and today’s theme of the singular circular sigil was the perfect opportunity to play around with some more sonic noodling, which I did yesterday.

But what to call it?
What unique musical moniker could I saddle my marvellous melodic masterpiece with?

Well, having spent a couple of hours programming, then simultaneously composing, playing and recording my latest tune, I e-mailed a copy to Ho, (my regular guinea pig and quality controller) texting him to let him know it was on the way and he inadvertently gave me the title I needed when he replied:

“Cool, will look forward to stronking throbberati..”

See? I couldn’t pass that up, could I?

So, despite the conspicuous lack of actual throbbing (although there may well be some stronking, who knows?) I have great pleasure in presenting another slice of twinkly, swirling loveliness, which may well be popular with those of you who downloaded my previous tune and remarked on its suitability for accompanying everything from writing to Tai Chi.

Ladies and gentlemen…

Just Jot It January: Day five…

image

Day five of JJIJ is brought to you in partnership with the lovely Horty Rexach and her blog, It Is What It Is.

Dr Rex, as she is known to her readers, has not only been a faithful supporter of Diary of an Internet Nobody for sometime, but I’m also lucky enough to have become friends with her on Facebook and her irrepressible positivity never fails to brighten my newsfeed.

(She was also very taken with Ho’s Christmas toons at the end of last year, so much so that she reblogged every single one, meaning that Ho actually got more hits on my blog than I did in December!)

And, as if that wasn’t enough, Horty has done me the great honour of nominating me for The Dedicated Blogger Award, the sentiment of which is best expressed by the blogger who nominated Dr Rex herself, Idealistic Rebel

image

This particular award is refreshingly free of conditions and instructions, but I am choosing to pass it on to some of the writers and artists who made 2015 such a fun year to be part of the blogosphere.
So if your blog appears in the following list, you can be sure that you have informed, entertained or inspired me with your own unique brand of dedication to the blogging cause and I thank you kindly.

Turquoise Moon.

Joeyfully Stated.

Fiction Favorites. (Note the “correct” U.S. spelling of favourites)

Cooking With A Wallflower.

Observashunal.

These Vagaries.

Strata Of The Self.

Assorted Thoughts From An Unsorted Mind.

Shanjeniah’s Lovely Chaos.

Zeebra Designs And Destinations.

image

And finally, an extra special mention to Linda G Hill, for being instrumental in inspiring my dalliance with fiction, via her excellent Stream of Consciousness Saturday feature, (and for giving me the opportunity to inflict a cringe-inducing one liner on the blogging community every week) which I have enjoyed enormously.

The twelve toons of Christmas: Day twelve…

Okay, we’ve finally reached the day when I can reveal the 2015 Diary of an Internet Nobody Christmas card.

Ho has done a fabulous job with his toons this year, not only for this run up to the Yuletide festivities, but whenever else I’ve called on his services to provide unique and amusing illustrations for blog posts.
So thank you old friend, it’s been a hoot (and I know you’ve picked up several new fans in the process; the lovely Dr Rex, for one) and I’m sure I will continue to call upon your artistic skill in the the coming year.

But for now, let’s enjoy the brilliance of all of this year’s offerings, combined with the final toon, to make a card you can print off and proudly display in your living room, to be the envy of all your friends.

Happy Christmas everyone.

The twelve toons of Christmas: Day eleven…

So, the Christmas shopping is done, the presents are wrapped, the decorations are up and there’s only one card I haven’t posted yet.
The bespoke Diary of an Internet Nobody greetings card, created by Ho for your seasonal enjoyment, will arrive here tomorrow, but for now here’s his final daily toon for this year, a slightly suspect Santa.

Be careful what you wish for…
