One of the principle reasons for using the #atozchallenge as an excuse to crowbar in my B to Z of Twin Peaks is to encourage those of you who have yet to enter David Lynch’s strange and wonderful world, to do so, while there’s still time to catch up, prior to The Return.
I figure that the best way to do that is to introduce you to some of the main characters and show you some of my favourite scenes and today it’s the turn of the “J”s.
There are a few.
James Hurley; Laura’s secret boyfriend, angst ridden biker and unlikely serial womanizer, who gets an extraordinary amount of memeification on Twin Peaks fan pages, mainly directed at his forehead.
Josie Packard; the “merry widow”, a smoldering and enigmatic oriental beauty, inheritor of her husband’s sawmill and main squeeze of Sheriff Harry S Truman.
Dr Lawrence Jacoby; Laura’s psychedelic psychiatrist, lover of all things Hawaiian, keeper of secrets and witness to a murder.
All of these people and more are listed by Special Agent Dale Cooper as “J”s of interest in the case, as he demonstrates one of his many unique methods of deduction.
This scene features Dale and Harry, Deputies Hawk and Andy Brennan (source of many a comic moment) and Lucy Moran, ditzy Sheriff station receptionist and provider of doughnuts and coffee.
