K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge…

27 Jun

image

Time for this week’s edition of K’lee and Dale’s Cosmic Photo Challenge, with today’s theme being, simply; Stone.

We’re spoilt for choice in the West Country, what with all the beautiful stone architecture and ancient stone monuments, so I thought I’d pick a selection, including an abandoned Cornish tin mine, a Neolithic settlement on Bodmin moor and some interesting rock formations, starting off with one of my favourite local stone buildings in Barnstaple.

Now let’s see what you have to offer.

Here’s K’lee’s photo for today.

Edit: Taken today; the same stone building, since renovation work was carried out on it, followed by another shot of the stone arch which seems popular.

To get involved with the challenge, post a photo to your blog on Monday, add a pingback to this post (or to K’lee’s) and don’t forget to tag your post #CosPhoChal.
Alternatively, add a link to your blog in the comments of either mine or K’lee’s post and we’ll come and check out your entry.

Any and all effects, editing, Photoshop, Instagram, morphing, collages or whatever other post production techniques you fancy are permitted, (in fact, they’re actively encouraged!) so get creative and turn your photos into artworks for the Cosmic Photo Challenge.

Lovely! So many varieties πŸ™‚ I especially loved the arch way in water. It is very cute.

I’m with KG on the archway. It looks like there’s a skull carved at the peak, or used to be, to warn people off.

Hang on, I’ll post a different view of it…

Nice. I still see it, only now it has a much higher forehead. Do you see it?

Yeah, looks a bit Egyptian to me.

Or aboriginal. You should research and see who built it. I’d be interested to see what comes of it. πŸ™‚

I looked at their site but saw nothing about the mill. I thought since you’ve physically been there, you’d have a better idea where to look – I’d have to search every category.

To be honest, I just searched for the link to give background, I haven’t looked at it too closely.
The mill leat is actually further round a bend in the river, this arch seems to be a sort of overflow which brings water from a couple of small streams into the river itself, at the point where a small bridge crosses it.

Ah. Then it’ll take a bit more excavation, so to speak. πŸ˜‰

Are there links to other participants’ photos? Like this theme and all these terrific shots. Brilliant.

Can’t decide if I like the moss on the rocks or the stone doorway among all the mossy blocks…But definitely moss is winning me over, Dale! πŸ™‚
