One liner Wednesday: Alternative dictionary…

08 Jun

1linerwedsbadgewes.jpgSo, having inaugurated my new one liner format last week, I’m hoping you’ll already be in the correct frame of mind to appreciate today’s second salvo of silliness, so here goes;

“Assassination” – A country containing 2 donkeys.

The more I think of it, the more I like it. Looking forward to what you’ve got cooking…

        You can have one for free;

“President” – The damage done by dropping a gift.

        June 8, 2016 at 19:02

        LOL!

        June 8, 2016 at 19:04

Ah, now, you see, I wasn’t sure that that one would translate transatlantically, because I was fairly sure “pressie” was an English diminutive.

      • K'lee L.

        June 8, 2016 at 19:16

But you didn’t use it until now so I wasn’t left out in the cold!

        June 8, 2016 at 19:18

Haha, no, I just thought up the definition and it made me laugh, so I was going to post it on another week and was prepared to have to explain it, like I’ve had to a few times on #1linerWeds.

Don’t know if you’re keeping up with our political goings-on, but I dare say there’s never been a better time for a little ‘pressie humor’. It’s a mess over here… I need to laugh!

        June 8, 2016 at 19:24

Oh I follow it very closely, it’s hilarious.
I’m a regular commenter on Kinja, the Gawker network platform, and the stories and comment threads on there are fantastic.

      • K'lee L.

        June 8, 2016 at 19:27

The Gawker is off the chain hilarious! They’re actually tamer than they use to be before the big lawsuit. (some defamation thing, I believe). Kinja I’ll have to check out.

        June 8, 2016 at 20:09

If you are on Kinja, you can comment on any of the Gawker Media sites; Jezebel, Gawker, Deadspin, io9, Gizmodo and a few others, you can either log in via Twitter, or create a “burner” account, the result is the same.

        Will look into that one.

It’s a bear pit full of trolls, but it’s extremely entertaining.

My problem is; because such a big percentage of my readership is American, (for no reason I’ve ever been able to work out) not all the sayings and figures of speech are common over there and there’s no point of reference for the humour.

For instance, several Americans had trouble with this transmogrified proverb:

“It’s a bald walkman who flames his trolls…..Oh, for fuck’s sake this keyboard is useless!”

      • K'lee L.

        June 8, 2016 at 19:25

I’m thinking that becaus your percentage of American readership is high, you have lots of us ‘blokes’ trying to get more of the Brit humo(u)r!
Oh, I’m one who’s not getting the proverb… wow. please explain?

“A bad workman blames his tools.”

Indicating that if you do a bad job, you should take responsibility for your mistakes and not blame the equipment you used to do the job.

Hence the ironic blaming of the useless keyboard for misspelling everything…

        …No?
        Just me then.
        Hahaha.

        All right… yeah.

I’m deeply gratified these are getting appreciation, I wasn’t certain if it was going to be an “ah, just me then” situation, hahaha.

And you did this with no assistance… which of course is a donkey with a political agenda. Hey! Donald Trump! 😀

BWAHAHA! This reminds me of my daughter. Last week, she casually asked me, “Why did the Nubian ass have to become extinct?” I was very confused until I saw the open animal reference book on the couch.

You got a real, if quiet, laugh out of me with that one! =D

It’s actually the end of my week. My chef husband has Monday and Tuesday off, and since the kids don’t attend school, this is our weekend.

But a good ass chuckle? Appreciated anytime! =)
