Just jot it January: Day one…

01 Jan

Well, hello 2016; another year, another new feature to get involved in.

Never one to turn down a chance of trying something new in blogging, I’ve decided to take part in Just Jot It January, the rules for which can be found here, but which basically boil down to; “post whatever you like, every day for the month of January”, a challenge I think I can probably rise to, in addition to the other regular strands of the blog, which will continue to run as normal.

Linda G Hill is hosting the feature, so be sure to use the Pingback at the bottom of each post to read the contributions from the other participants.

I thought I’d just do a quick, belated life/blog refresher to get the ball rolling, since I didn’t do a proper end of year round up before 2015 dragged itself, drunk and complaining, through the door marked “history” last night.

It’s been a full and frantic twelve months, both on- and offline:

– Lots of new things; Rhonda and Audrey were still settling into a new life in a new country, having arrived from America the previous November and the three of us beginning our new lives together in our new flat, with Rhonda and I getting married in January.

– Our battles with the dark forces of bureaucracy continued for the following six months, finally resulting in all the necessary paperwork and visas arriving in August and Rhonda being able to start work.

– Bad news: An unexpected need to move house again came as a bit of a shock in March, when our landlord decided, at short notice, to sell the flat we were renting.

– Good news: A friend of mine who lived in the flat opposite moved out and, long story short (see, I’m learning), we moved across the hall a month later.

– I made a concerted effort to get more into writing fiction in May, joining another of Linda’s regular features, Stream of Consciousness Saturday, (or more recently, Sunday) challenging myself to come up with a short(ish) story for each of her weekly prompts.

– In September I teamed up with Jerry at Jdawgswords for a totally new project; our collaborative sci-fi writing experiment, Starship Gypsies, an experience I’m enjoying immensely and I shall reblog the most recent chapter of the ever-thickening plot immediately after this post.

– And then of course, there’s The Book.
It seems unlikely that you’ve missed the announcement if you’ve read the blog over the last month or so, but since I was chosen to have a story included in an anthology of “new fiction by new writers” last summer, the collection has finally been released and I AM NOW A PUBLISHED WRITER.
Sorry, that bit always seems to come out in capitals.
(Possibly confusingly for some of you, I’m published under my real name.)

Should you have somehow managed to avoid this momentous news thus far, please take advantage of the links below and place an order for your copy, available for Kindle and in paperback.
Oh, and leave a review too, I’d love to hear what you think (not to mention the free publicity) thanks.

– Other than that, Diary of an Internet Nobody has seen a new lease of life over the last twelve months and hopefully I’ll find the time to keep up with my photography blog, Photo Sans Frontiers in 2016, as well as trying to contribute a few posts to Ian Cochrane‘s excellent Travel ‘n’ Ravel site.

Thank you to all my existing readers for your continued support, hello and thank you to all of the new visitors who have chosen to follow my random ramblings and thank you to all the new bloggers that I’ve met on this latest leg of my journey through the blogosphere.

All the best to all of you for 2016.

See you tomorrow…

What a year. May this year have less moving house and only moving to acheive steps to conquering your dreams!

It would certainly make things less confusing for your book.
